World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM) – Non-governmental organization
With more than 30 million members, The World Organization of Scout Movement decided in 2013 to transfer its global headquarters from Geneva to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. To ensure the continuity of the operations during the transition, WOSM appointed The Business Harbour as an external management team.
Jim Sharp – Global Director / Corporate Services
“Moving an organization’s headquarters without interrupting activities to another jurisdiction is a real challenge. We needed a partner, small enough to be flexible and strong enough to lead the mandate. We also wanted extensive knowledge of Swiss requirements on salary, accounting and financial management.
The Business Harbour combined all these qualities and supported us until we could hire staff locally. Their team provided an interim CFO to manage the Finance and Administration department, created transition procedures and advised us how to develop the new organisational structure. The Business Harbour also managed salary administration and staff transfers to Malaysia.
Without their expert understanding and responsive staff we would never have managed the workload and sheer logistical complexities of transitioning to Kuala Lumpur within the required time frame.”
